February 26, 2008 – 6:45 amSons of the South is a project highlighting a diverse group of artist working and living in the Southern region of the United States. Operating under the intense heat of a Southern sun, the collective was developed to give exposure to this region of the U.S. and its EMERGING art scene. Living in a region that has been burned and tormented with historical devils, divided racially, and mocked over air waves, the works explore a variety of themes in various mediums that have emerged from Atlanta’s small and isolated subcultures such as, but not confined to folk art, graffiti and street arts, skateboarding, tattoo, rock, punk, crunk and hip hop cultures.
