Heritage, southern traditions, daily visual stimuli and design all collage in the imagination into dreamlike landscapes. Under splashes of heavy graphics, graffiti styles and other urban contemporary influences an urban playground emerges. Layers of paint, text and other mixed media converge to illustrate child-like memories and a visual code of American life in the urban South.

rene
Rene
Rene Arriagada (AKA Transmit Device, Ne Ne Bling Bling), was raised in Atlanta, GA. As a teenager he developed his artistic style from his love for building things and defacing public property. He first gained recognition as a street artist and has branched into gallery settings. Utilizing methods he developed for painstaking pre planning and fast execution in stencil works, his mediums now vary in mirror etchings, wood stains and cutouts. Old fashioned methods are preferred to create modern iconography; finding inspiration in punk rock, Star Wars, "Foxy boxing," dive bars, etc. Arriagada has been active in the Atlanta underground art community for years, putting together art shows and events. Although easy to work with, he will occasionally threaten to cut you ("cheek to cheek.")

born
Born
Growing up in Atlanta, Born easily became a prevalent force in Atlanta's graffiti landscape. Today remnants of his work still exists on buildings throughout the city. Much of his work is rooted in geometrical designs that can be found throughout most of current artwork. Rooted in functionality, you can still see remnants of lettering styles that have evolved into minimalist imagery. His work represents the harshest streets and the softness of the South. He has exhibited in many galleries throughout Atlanta, and had his most recent exhibition at the Beep Beep gallery. His style comes from a minimalist approach which combines metal and geometric forms.
steven
My work is a series of observations, critiques, fears, and hopes, which I attempt to present through allegory, imagery, and text. A portrait of our disenchanted, techno-media saturated, war-torn society presented in the divine light of the Masters. I draw from a vast pool of imagery and iconography that is already ingrained into our minds, and I arrange it to suit my needs. My imagery borrows from the Masters of the Renaissance, heraldry, freemasonry, religious iconography, science, technology, mythology, and the always present war machine. It’s a juxtaposition of centuries-old ideas with modern interpretations.
My images are portraits of our society, as it wavers, careless and disaster-prone, constantly in search of those faint glimmers of hope beaming in from the television. We are inundated by images of war, famine, and disaster. All of which are broadcast to us live, on a glowing screen. We take it all in, the misery and suffering of millions, careless and unaffected, waiting for something to distract us from our plight. But who can say all is lost? Certainly not I. Beneath it all runs an undercurrent of hope and longing. It’s the only thing that keeps us going, the hope that something better is within our reach. It’s that very glimmer of hope, surrounded by hopelessness, that I try to portray. I strive to create a sense of divinity to light the darkness, and ultimately, to give myself hope.
